Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 takes place from 11–17 May, with this year’s focus on “Action.” The campaign encourages people to take meaningful steps to support their own mental well-being and help others around them. Whether it’s reaching out to a friend, taking time to rest, asking for support, or creating healthier habits, the message is that small actions can make a big difference.
Mental health affects everyone, and raising awareness helps reduce stigma and encourages more open conversations. Looking after our mental well-being is just as important as caring for our physical health.
Helpful ways to support mental well-being include:
- Staying connected with family and friends
- Getting regular exercise and fresh air
- Eating a balanced diet and staying hydrated
- Taking breaks and getting enough sleep
- Practising mindfulness or relaxation techniques
- Limiting stress where possible
- Talking openly about feelings and asking for help when needed
- Making time for hobbies and activities you enjoy
Acupuncture may also help support mental wellbeing by encouraging relaxation and helping the body manage stress more effectively. Many people use acupuncture to help reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, tension, poor sleep, and emotional overwhelm. By promoting balance within the body and calming the nervous system, acupuncture can help improve overall wellbeing and create a greater sense of calm and relaxation alongside conventional healthcare support.
